Mitzvah Corps
Thursdays, 3:30-6:00pm
$875.00 per school year
Mitzvah Corps is a two part program for our graduating class, students entering grades 6 and 7. Each Thursday, our Mitzvah Corps students set out in the “Mitzvah Mobile,” our 15 passenger van to do community service. The students participate in activities that enrich both the community and themselves and help develop a sense of
responsibility and kindness towards others. We begin with a 3 month
session at the Lynn Boys and Girls Club, a wonderful facility in the
heart of Lynn. Our students are paired up with young children and
work with them on homework, reading skills, or just playing. Next,
our students do volunteer work at My Brother's Table, a homeless
shelter and at the Food Pantry. The Mitzvah Corps do a two month
session at the JRC or another senior center and some volunteer work
with HealthWorks, an environmental organization in Salem. Rabbi Yossi accompanies students on all outings.
In addition to the Mitzvah outings, the Mizvah Corps students study Jewish History with Layah Lipsker and also study Hebrew language. Most students are preparing for Bar/Bat Mitzvah during this important year and therefore, special attention is paid to Hebrew fluency
Now in its fourth year, the Mitzvah Corps program has been praised by
both students and parents and I hope your child will be a part of it. The school year concludes with a graduation trip and graduation ceremony.
